A Battle Against Dengue & Zika

Since I became a mom, I can’t recall how many times we rushed to the emergency room for fear that my son, Santi, acquired dengue fever. And he’s just 2 years old.

I was in grade 2 when I had dengue fever. It wasn’t a good experience, with the pain and constant blood extractions. Not to mention, the threat to life that goes with it. Since then, I’ve always been anxious about mosquitoes. There are a lot in our area, so sometimes I get praning (paranoid) for Santi.

I try to buy numerous mosquito patches, sprays, and lotions just to keep the mosquitoes away from him. But despite this, I still find him with mosquito bites sometimes. When this happens, he’s usually very cranky because of the itch. And because of that, he’d have a hard time sleeping. We’ll also be on the lookout for symptoms in case he’d suddenly have a fever.

Mosquitos as a threat

The World Health Organization named mosquitoes as the number one animal threat to humans. We’ve heard from the news that the government has already faced these threats with readiness and practice.

Recently though, another vector-borne disease is threatening everyone’s safety – the Zika virus. It is a disease carried by the same mosquito breed (Aedes aegypti) that carries dengue and malaria.

Because of this, we as a family try our best in ensuring that we prevent acquiring it. Aside from maintaining the cleanliness of the house and keeping pots and containers free of water, we follow the guide given by the Department of Health, known as the the “4s”:

  1. Search and destroy mosquito breeding places
  2. Self-protection measures
  3. Seek early consultation for any symptoms
  4. Say “no” to indiscriminate fogging

In addition to the guide above, I’ve also discovered a new device that is very promising: the Sharp Plasmacluster Air Purifier with Mosquito Catcher.

The Plasmacluster Air Purifier with Mosquito Catcher

The Mosquito Catcher is equipped with the 5-Step Mosquito Catching Mechanism.

It attracts mosquitoes with its black exterior and built-in UV lights. It has ideal entrances on its sides and powerful air suction to capture nearing mosquitoes and trap them on the glue sheet inside.

Aside from capturing and trapping mosquitoes, the Mosquito Catcher also releases positive and negative ions through its Plasmacluster Ion Technology. These ions clean the air and eliminate molds, odors, and airborne bacteria to ensure all-around, 24/7 protection for your loved ones.

It is also enhanced with the TRUE HEPA filter, which captures 99.97% of air particles such as pet dander, dust, and pollen, which may trigger asthma or allergies.

The Mosquito Catcher is effective, safe, and most importantly, chemical-free. Now with the release of its newest, sleeker, and smaller model, it can easily fit into any space available at home.

Being a mom is hard. I always find myself worrying about Santi’s safety, especially since I can’t watch him 24/7. I do my best to prevent my fears from happening, but sometimes it’s just not enough.

Good thing, there are brands that really innovate things to help moms like me, just like Sharp.

Know more about this product through the official Sharp website and official Facebook page, Sharp Philippines.

Enjoy life. Cheers!

Sharp Plasmacluster Air Purifier with Mosquito Catcher with model numbers FP-FM40E-B and FP-GM30E-B are available at leading appliance stores in Metro Manila, Cebu and Davao.

Ugh, The Mosquito Catcher is something I must save for and invest in! I had dengue fever for the first time last month and it’s a terrible experience. It got me paranoid about mosquitos. Considering the fact the ZIka is slowly spreading in our country 🙁

It is really scary. Our family lives in a place with lots of greens, like treas and tall plants, its nice in summer but whenever rainy season strike, it becomes a danger for everyone. I had dengue last year of this time of the month. My mom was so vigilant and gave me lots of tawatawa tea. I love how it taste because im a tea lover myself but also, it helped me regain my platelet count.

Take care of your cute baby ?
