Plant Nanny – water reminder

at
plant-nanny-water-reminder

Plant Nanny is an app that helps you monitor your water intake. I’ve been using this for more than a month now, and it has really helped.

The importance of drinking water

We usually see ads saying that we need to drink 8 glasses of water a day. But what does that really mean? Since our body is 70% made of water, water plays a vital role in ensuring bodily functions happen normally and toxins are properly washed out.

Water also plays a vital role in weight loss. Sometimes, we get hunger pangs even if what our body needs is just water. Imagine how much calories you’d lose if you’d replace those snacks with water?

Plant Nanny lets you grow cute plants in your phone. Every time you get to drink water, you also water your plant, and it helps them grow.

Plant Nanny calculates the recommended water intake based on your body weight and activity type.

The higher your body weight and the more active you are, the more water you need. You can change this every now and then in case your weight or activity changes.

Water intake can be measured by oz or mL. You can create different sizes, though I’m not sure if there’s a limit on the number of cups that can you make.

You can also choose a default cup, which can be changed whenever you feel like it. Since my cup at home is different from the one in the office, I change the default depending on where I am.

You can also set your app to send reminders and in what interval. Or customize it to not send reminders at all. I find the reminders very helpful especially when I’m at work where I can be so engrossed with what I’m doing.

I haven’t met my goals lately since I’ve been very busy. Seeing the patterns is helpful for me since I amΒ able to addressΒ the causes on why I’m low on water intake. For example, Friday’s are usually when I’m busy at work, so I tend to spend lesser time in getting water. Weekend are also my delinquent days since I tend to delay getting a glass when the little one is attached to me.

In just a month of using this, my water intake is way better. I noticed lesser cravings and headaches, and I feel like I’ve lost a bit of weight (though that is yet to be proven. Lol.). Who knew that just changing your water intake can make you feel better?

I really hope I can continue with this habit because of its good results. And I hope they add more cute plants and customizing options.

What do you think ofΒ Plant Nanny? Let me know in the comments! πŸ˜‰

Enjoy life. Cheers!

It is really addicting! Especially since I’m goal oriented, I panic when I don’t meet my goal for the day so I usually try to catch up towards the end of the day. πŸ˜›

Interesting app! I track my water intake using a Hydrate sticker in my planner. This app is just so much more interactive.

I also try to keep a planner for tracking other things, but I haven’t thought of tracking my water intake there. In case I get tired of this app, I’ll try tracking in my planner πŸ™‚

I’m actually a “heavy-drinker”so I don’t need this. As in I have a water bottle in my bag all the time (that caused some of my bags to get ruined). But I would love this for my son! He’s so pawisin and active that he needs to replenish every time.

I wish I could be like you! If I don’t get reminded, I will pass drinking water until end of day, which is really bad for the body πŸ™

I got this app last week because I needed the discipline to drink decent amount of water everyday. HAHA. My history for the week looked awful, with ZERO success rate. At least I get to monitor my intake now, and at least my plant hasn’t died – tho it almost did yesterday. lol

Mine also looks awful on hectic days. After identifying the trend, I made it a point to make a more conscious effort especially when it’s a very busy day at work.

So cute! It’s gonna be a helpful smart phone application kasi magsa-summer na. Ako naman, I make it a point na nakakainom ako ng up to 2 liters of water in the office. I don’t feel well pag kulang sa water.

    12 . Mar . 2016
    • ninasogue

Wow, 2 liters! I wish I had the same drive. Minsan kasi sa super busy, I put everything else off. ?

Got used to it kasi I got sick before. As in really sick. So as part of my attempt to somehow live a healthy lifestyle, I told myself that I will drink at least 2 liters of water a day! Hihi. Lalo na noong nagbuntis. Kaya ayun. πŸ™‚ Kaya mo yan sis! Water is important talaga. πŸ™‚

This is so cute. I will recommend my boys to have this app too especially that it’s summer vacation. They can use their mobile phone. Ihihi. Thanks.

I kept seeing this app in App Store but I thought it was a game! Now that I know it’s to monitor the water intake, I’m going to download it right away.

I thought it was a game too until my friend introduced it to me. It works better if you influence the people around you to do the same. I feel more encouraged to continue with my goals, particularly water intake πŸ™‚

When I was still working, we were prone to working hard (walang tayuan!) or going OT, and one of our team mates had a similar app. I tried it for a while but my plants kept on dying! Haha!!! It helped, but I really just had a bad habit of not getting water or holding my pee just to finish work!

That was what happened to me the first time. But I noticed that I felt better whenever I drink water, so naghanda talaga ako. May big jug nako na katabi, tsaka I try to monitor as much as I can πŸ™‚

I was actually skeptic at first. I had this last year, then deleted it. When I found out that my 2 colleagues were also using this, I gave it a try. Now I’m just addicted to it – I have 4 plants! Lol. Hope this will be helpful for you πŸ™‚
