Outre Manila in Circuit Makati

at
outre-manila

Outré is a French word for “unusual” or “startling”. When we discovered Outre Manila in Circuit Makati last month, I realized that the name really fits the place since their hand-crafted liquid nitrogen gelato is really bizarre!

I briefly mentioned discovering Outré Manila last time in my 25 and no turning back post.We didn’t have much pictures back then and we didn’t stay for long, so I told myself I had to go back.

Outré Manila prides themselves in their hand-crafted liquid nitrogen gelato. This was the first time I experienced this, so this what they do:

  • They mix the recipe in liquid form (depending on your order).
  • They add liquid nitrogen bit by bit to “freeze” the cream.
  • The liquid nitrogen starts to smoke! The gelato hardens as more liquid nitrogen is added.
  • Lastly, they transfer your ice cream to a cup, where they add finishing touches.

We didn’t know about liquid nitrogen ice cream back then, so we were really surprised when it started smoking! It was really cool watching them make nitrogen ice cream.  It was very “Outré” of this world! (I cracked the same joke to my brother but he just shrugged).

The little one got a bit scared with the smoke. He squirms away when it nears him, but he comes closer when the smoke disappears.

If you’re a fan of chocolate, you would really love Milo Dinosaur!

outre-manila-8outre-manila-9The price of each Outré gelato is Php 160. It’s a bit expensive for a gelato, but the serving is very “siksik” (packed) that my mom and I had to share it.

The ambiance

One thing I really admire in the place is their wall art.

And this doodle wall is also something – perfect for taking the selfies!

Outré Manila also serves other dishes such as sangers, pastas, salads, etc.

I haven’t had a chance to try them yet, but I’ve read good reviews from other sites. Their gelato is really good so I’m looking forward to trying their other dishes out!

What I liked

  • Liquid nitrogen ice cream experience
  • Milo Dinosaur was a good choice for a gelato
  • Very cool ambiance!

Am I eating here again? YES!

I enjoyed hanging out with my mom in Outré Manila. I’m looking forward to going back soon!

What do you think about Outré Manila? Let me know in the comments!

Enjoy life. Cheers!

Oh , that must be very fascinating for the children in there . I have seen this method on tv quite a lot . The ‘haute cuisine’ is doing this a lot now , a nice show I think . What to me was very remarkable , is the lightning inside .I love it when places that serve food are well lit , and you can see what you’re eating ( and if the place is clean 😉 )

It is very. Even us adults had fun with the experience.
And yes, the place is super bright. It’s a really good place to take photos 🙂

I like to see the whole experience together. It’s not just eating an ice-cream. It looks great for children and the chocolate with the ice-cream together would be something I would appreciate too!

It’s a great spot for artsy people. Super different from the typical ice cream store. And being “interactive” with food is something for me. I enjoyed putting additional syrup all over 🙂

Oh, It is in Paranaque. I would try to go there. Basically, it is dry ice incorporated with ice cream. LOL

The branch I went to was in Circuit Makati, though I’ve heard that they have more flavors in Paranaque. 🙂 And yes, I guess that’s a way of putting it. This is my first-time to encounter liquid nitrogen ice cream so it was “cool” for me. Haha!

Haha! Good one! Milo Dinosaur reminded me of the days when I “ate” Milo powder. It was nostalgic!

I don’t know what to expect with a liquid nitrogen but I’m willing to give this a try. I actually want the chocolate syrup in a syringe 🙂

    04 . Apr . 2016

The syringe gave it an interactive feel! It’s still ice cream, though I can’t describe the difference in composition. I think…it melts slower? The liquid nitrogen helps it freeze faster, and based from experience, longer 🙂

I tried liquid nitrogen before and I really didn’t like it. It was so weird. It didn’t feel like ice cream to me.

    • ninasogue

I couldn’t describe the difference I noticed, but it didn’t melt as fast as a normal ice cream would do. Where have you tried liquid nitrogen before? 🙂

Awwwsss. it’s the price of course. Nevertheless, I suppose one could always give it a try at least once to see what makes it so special. 160 pesos for a small cup…

    04 . Apr . 2016
    • ninasogue

Yeah, it’s a bit pricey. But I would say, it would be good to experience at least once. I would recommend buying it “to share” so it wouldn’t feel as pricey 🙂

Actually I’ve tried Outre Gelatos in BF Paranaque branch. I also love their Milo Dinosaurs!!

I heard that they have more flavors in the Paranaque branch. I really hope I get to pass by there. My friend recently posted a picture of their pistachio flavor – it looks super good!

We were only able to try a liquid nitrogen once in UP. Glad we don’t have to travel far anymore just to try one again. I also love their stand out decor which is apt for their restaurant name. We’ll definitely try this!

I’ll search for that liquid nitrogen. I heard from friends that there are other places like this. I’d love to try it too for comparison! 🙂
